“*EDIT TO ADD* Backups were not in a format that could be downloaded. Now they say my websites that have been active for 20+ years are completely gone. The pricing is absolutely predatory for what you actually get. It’s dressed up to look sleek and “premium,” but underneath it’s a maze of traps. What starts off looking like a simple hosting plan quietly mutates into a parade of overages, surprise charges, and renewal rates that skyrocket without warning. It feels engineered to catch you slipping. I never signed anything with them, yet they tried to lock me in for a year, and removed my website in an attempt to extort me. When problems came up, support was painfully slow, robotic, and completely uninterested in solving anything. There was zero partnership — just copy-paste policies and demands for more money. During a billing dispute, they didn’t hesitate to pull the plug on my website, as if disruption and stress were acceptable leverage tactics. For a company that loves to parade around the word “premium,” that move was heavy-handed, petty, and unprofessional. For the amount they charge, transparency and flexibility shouldn’t be a luxury — they should be the baseline. Instead, I felt nickel-and-dimed at every turn, boxed in, and pressured. I advise everyone to stay so far away from this company. You don't have to sign anything for them to delete all of your data unless you pay them an astronomical amount of money. There are hosting companies out there that don’t rely on surprise fees and shutdown threats to make their margins. No one deserves to feel trapped by a service they’re paying this much for. NOT RECOMMENDED UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE YOUR SITE.”

“Never used this company and they hacked my debit card information and charged me $475.00 totally unauthorized. Glad I caught the fraudulent charge. Also, had to order a new card and wait because of this. I hope the get fraudulent charges from the bank. Small businesses shouldn't have to go through this. Beware of this company”

“A few of my fellow, SEO company owner friends recommended WP engine. It was an extremely big decision because of the amount of sites I had to move away from my current hosting provider who is a private server in India of 15 years. However, the support has been amazing. I had the best on boarding call with an American who knew what he was talking about and provided Crystal clear explanation along the way for all my questions regarding the hosting and helped me out with Cloudfare. The cost for 50 websites is half of what I was paying for worse service before. Very happy about my decision and the people I’ve talked to thank you Anna and Jon for your amazing help so far.”

“I used them for years, my agency plans contract renewal is up next month and I don’t think I’d keep them if they paid me the $400 a month instead of me paying them. They use to be great, now they’re 10x the cost of their competitors and with 10% of the value. Not to mention I’m pretty sure you could get a site to run faster on a single board computer compared to how overloaded their crummy google cloud servers they put you on have become. Go like anywhere else, hostinger, contabo, aws, Google cloud (I mean they use them anyway) literally anybody else.”

“I have been using WPEngine for 13 years. The tech support has been superlative. That's why the two stars and not one. I would have given five stars if not for this ridiculous situation. I moved my websites out of the US a few weeks ago and expected that WPEngine would simply close the account at the end of the monthly billing period when I gave notification. But no, they have it slipped in their contract that they won't close the account for a further 30 days after your notice of termination. A surprise after 13 years of being a customer. A sting at the end of the tail.”

“Terrible huge bill from them for $447. Just a few days before that I got another giant bill so there’s something wrong with them and their customer service sucks.”
