“I am very pleased with my new Grin all-axle hub kit! My local bike shop built out a 2026 Surly Ogre, installed the hub motor, and I completed the electrical connections. Grin makes everything so easy to install, and it was a basically plug-and-play job. So much power and functionality in this system. It cost some money, and the tariffs sucked, but am 100 percent happy and am glad to have chosen Grin.”

“I purchased the Grin All Axle Rear Motor/CA3/Phaserunner combo. Initially I had lots of issues with power instability for several months and was very disappointed. I thought either the motor or the controller or the display was having issues. I spent several months with support, lots of emails and troubleshooting. In the end I discovered that when I installed the hub motor on my Azub Ti-Fly X that I had accidentally twisted and slightly sheared the motor cable. This is mainly because the Ti-fly X has a really long dropout on the non drive side in the rear. Grin support was helpful and in the end I re-wired the motor myself and now all is good. I've had 5 Bafang motors and now I am liking the switch to a hub motor. On my trike with the Bafang motors I would use up about 1 cassette and 6 waxed chains a year and had significant chain noise. Now with the Grin AA motor I use my brakes very little and my waxed chains are lasting 2 or 3 times as long. Seems like Middrive motors put more strain on the drivetrain and brakes of an ebike than a hub motor. Also, I built a 72V 45Ah Samsung 50E battery ( about 3500 watts is the max I push it ) and I can go 40+mph on the flats with my trike and have not trouble climbing hills. I live on 9% grade hill about 1/4 mile long and go up the hill at 20-25 mph. Very happy with Grin products so far. I'm happy with the power, speed and quietness. I worked with Hayley at Grin throughout this issue and she was knowledgeable and helpful. My only recommendation is to make sure you order all that you need in a singe order because shipping is now about $60 now matter how small the item is. It looks like USPS is having issues with the new Tariff regulations from Canada so you need to ship with DHL or UPS which is expensive.”

“Unfortunately, I've had bad experiences. The support is terrible, and the products are poor quality yet very expensive. I bought a kit, a GMAC 8T with a PhaseRunner, for $1500. But with the default Grin settings, it didn't work at all. It stuttered when starting up. When you contact support, it always takes days, even weeks, to get a response. Ultimately, the combination of the GMAC 8T and PhaseRunner didn't work. I had to get the 10T. Despite this, they're still selling it, even though the problem is known. That shows the company's passion. Then the PhaseRunner simply died with a "current sensor calibration error" after 9 months. I had to buy a new PhaseRunner. I waited days, even weeks, for a solutin from support and was treated like an idiot. They did not read my messages right. I'm supposed to send the defective controller halfway around the world back to them and was even asked to falsify the customs declaration. Yes, now I'm annoyed. I mean, the stuff is ridiculously expensive. And there's more. The new aux switches for the CA3 are breaking. I was told to just fix them myself. I have five bikes with broken switches. The problem is officially known, and they aren't even sending me replacements, even though they could have just included them in the next order. As I said, the products are extremely expensive but are still experimental. The customer has to bear the brunt of the development problems and receives only the bare minimum of support. I've spent a fortune with this company and I have to say I'm disappointed.”

“*Poor Customer Service* is definitely an issue with this place. Maybe they don't really care about retail business. Four times now i tried to purchase items or convert my bike to eBike; no matter i called or be there in person, they pointed me back at their website which is difficult to understand or send us an email. Some assistance would be appreciated. i thought may be that they are busy; but no other customers when i was there. Every time it just felt like: how to make my customers go away. Their thinking is if we've a website, we don't need anyone to talk to the customers. It's a local shop that i would like to support; sadly, they don't care about my business”

“Deeply disappointed in the recent service from Grin Technologies. As a long-term advocate in the Calgary DIY scene and a Cirkit bike builder, I’ve always stood behind Grin. Today, that ends. I have four Grin controllers and have referred countless customers through Hilleater, but Grin just denied a warranty claim on a physically perfect Frankenrunner because of a 3-day (72-hour) warranty overlap. The Facts: Software Failure: During a guided technical session with Miguel using the official Phaserunner Suite, the software misidentified my Frankenrunner as a "Baserunner V5" and soft-bricked the firmware. The Excuse: Despite no physical damage, the "Senior RMA tech" claimed "PC lag" or a "loose cable" caused the corruption to avoid a warranty payout. My professional workstations don't "lag," but their software handshake certainly failed. The Technicality: Because my first email was June 12th and the 3-year warranty ended June 9th, they are refusing a replacement. They ignored the fact that I physically traveled to their Vancouver shop in September to resolve it, only to find them closed. It’s a shame to see a company built on DIY advocacy hide behind a 0.2% time margin and "poor software" excuses. I’m stripping my Cirkit bike tonight and moving my builds to platforms that actually value their power users and "community pillars." Warning to the High Voltage community: Don't count on that 3-year warranty if you're 72 hours late or if their software glitches.”

“Dan went above and beyond to help me convert my daughter’s bike. They were responsive and caught items I missed before shipping. Highly recommended!”
